Competitive Obed - Handler Workshop (Part 1)

PILOT CLASS - Handler & 1 Dog: This is a pre-arranged select group session for specific dog/handler teams with a specific MDTC Instructors to develop MDTC Competitive Obedience foundational skill workshops curriculum:
- Four 90 min sessions - Monday Workshop dates: 5/19/25, 5/26, 6/2, 6/16 (makeup date if needed, 6/23/25)

Scent Work - Skill Building for Novice Teams (BA) (Members Only)

Note: This Monday evening class will start 5/19 to accomodate the General Membership meeting on 5/12.
This class is for dogs that have been introduced to scentwork and are on odor. Dogs may be trialing at Novice level or getting ready to trial. We'll work on building your dog's experience in solving search problems, focus and fun. This class is not appropriate for dogs trialing or taking classes at higher levels.
Prerequisites: Scent Work - Introduction to Odor or by permission of the instructor. Please contact the instructor before you sign up to confirm that your dog is eligible for this class, or for additional details. Dogs must crate between runs.
Scent Work - Skill Building for Novice Teams (BA) (Non-Member)

Note: This Monday evening class will start 5/19 to accomodate the General Membership meeting on 5/12.
This class is for dogs that have been introduced to scentwork and are on odor. Dogs may be trialing at Novice level or getting ready to trial. Basic Obedience (SP) (Members Only)

Note: This Monday evening class will start 5/19 to accomodate the General Membership meeting on 5/12.
This fun class is open to beginner dogs and handlers. Dogs must be at least six months of age - older dogs are welcome, too! Subjects covered in this course are introducing to the dog properly walk on a leash (i.e., heeling), "sit", "down", "come", "stay" (during sit and down) as well as meeting a friendly stranger on leash.
If this is your dog's first time attending an MDTC class, owners/handlers are required to bring the dog's current vaccination records to the first class. All puppies MUST have received at least the 2nd round of DHPP (distemper, adenovirus [hepatitis], parainfluenza, and parvovirus) before attend the 1st class. Rabies vaccination is MANDATORY for all puppies 16 weeks or older per Virginia State Law. Leptospirosis (Lepto), Bordetella (Kennel Cough), and Giardia vaccinations are not required to attend class. Please consult your licensed veterinarian for additional questions or concerns.

Note: This Monday evening class starts on 5/19 to accomodate the General Membership meeting on 5/12.
This class is for dogs that have completed Introduction to Scent Work and are ready to be introduced to odor. We‘ll pair primary rewards (food and/or toys) with the first odor (birch) and continue to build a foundation of independence, confidence and love of the game. Perfect for young or old dogs, scaredy dogs, dogs with disabilities, fit dogs, couch potato dogs…Any dog with a nose can do it!
Note: Handlers are required to crate their dogs ring side so please be sure to bring a crate (soft, travel or wire). Dogs must crate between runs.
