AKC Competitive Obedience - Part 6 (MAM) (Members Only)
with Mary Ann Mullen
This is not a Beginner Open Obedience or Open Obedience run thru class. This class is the sixth in a series, and for those teams that have learned the basic skills, rules and training techniques to compete in Open Obedience trials and working toward refining those skills. All work is done in class off lead with multiple dogs working on the same floor space.
Prerequisites: Teams must have attended the first five sessions in this series. Multiple rings will be used.
Note: No 2nd dogs/same handler will be accepted for this class. We understand many of you may be traveling from quite a distance with multiple dogs training that day. You're welcome to bring them into the building with you; however, you are only permitted to work the one registered for the class. Please contact the Training Director, Deanna Bullock, 757-778-7608 for approvals or questions.

Precision Heeling for Obedience & Rally Competition (MC) (Members Only)
with Melissa Cushman
Precise pivots, fast fronts, tight turns and finding heel position from a distance. This class is all about the foundation skills to successfully achieve precision heeling. We will also go over marker words to help you communicate clearly to your dog when they are doing the right thing, something that is very important when we talk about precision.
Precision heeling is team work, and we want our dogs to love heeling so we will also learn some fun obedience games so your dog is enthusiastic about heeling.
Prerequisites: All dogs need to be able to work safely around other moving dogs.
Supplies needed: Something to practice pivoting on and some type of platform. During the first class we will discuss platforms, including the proper size for your dog. You can make or purchase a platform but it will be an important part of the class. Dogs will also need a 10 foot leash.
